Helen. . .here we come!

Helen, Georgia... what can I say. Rami's family come here for the week and had a house in Helen. We went out to visit them. What a scene. Men dressed in leiderhousen, women barely dressed in German frauline dresses. Hats and large beer steins, candy apples and freezing weather. . .and my kiddies had fun. We took a horsey ride too!

My Beauty!

The other day we were visiting friends and R was off running with the boys. H was and is a mommy's girl lately and wouldn't leave my side. So while my friend who owns the most beautiful townhome in Buckhead was cooking us a quick dinner, I was taking pics of my beauty while posing in the window. Isn't she a BEAUTY!

More from my sisters Wedding!

Oh we Girls were posing for the camera. . .crazy girls!

My Little Sis's Wedding

My little sis got married a couple weeks ago and we had a blast in Pasedena, CA visiting and meeting her new family!
My handsome uncle Russ who walked her down the isle (I also got the honor of his arm at my wedding!)
My baby sister and baby R who is getting so tall. We had to stop by and smell the Pacific Ocean!

A Shout out to Noah!

Crazy! We have had horrible rains in Atlanta for days and days and seriously I was looking out for the animals. Are they starting to pair up? Maybe. Above is a picture of a really nice restaraunt in Atlanta that is over 5 1/2 feet under water! So sad! We were blessed that we are on the hill in our neighborhood and have a tiny creek in our back yard so they only issue we delt with is our gutters need to be cleaned out. My rose bush is sitting on its side in my back yard. Rain, rain. . . Major streets are flooded and basements are flooded and roofs are leaking but that you God (because we really don't need one more thing right now) we had no flooding, no leaking, no accidents. Just 2 little ones who had a "flood day" off of school! Stay safe fellow Atlantans. I am praying for you.

Puppy Love

I also stumbled across an article on calculating a dog's age...thought it was worth sharing this:

According to this, Comet the Dog and R are about the same age!

"The official formula, according to the American Veterinary Medical Association, equates the first year of a medium-sized dog's life to 15 years of a human's. The dog'...s second year equals nine years for a human. And after that, every year feels like five for a dog.

Random Act of Kindness

The other day I came home from a long day and I went outside to check on the mail as usual and I found a very unexpected present...a flower, a daisy, wrapped in tissue and a ribbon with a card that read. .
"Heather, Sorry H struggled with soccer. You are a great Mom and I hope you have a great week. Kristen"
Wow! A mom who is not exactly close to me sent me a flower because she saw me struggling with my daughter at her first soccer practice/game. My daughter has been having a hard time lately going into new situations. Although she is 4, she screams and cries when she goes to ballet(she has taken it happily for 2 years), soccer (she begged me to put her in this year), takes a picture for her team or recital. I am at my wits end trying to convince her that she is going to love it and that I am right here to watch etc.
I turned to Kristen(during a particularly difficult time last Saturday) and said to her" What do I do, do you have any suggestions? She recognized that I was struggling and trying so hard to help my daughter and she took time out of her day to let me know that she cares!! Wow! Isn't that just the coolest!? I called her imediately and thanked her and told her I was floored with her thoughtfulness. Now I am inspired to thinkof a Mom who I can be kind to! Who can you think about today? Leave a small flower and a note for her. She will never forget it!

A, B, C, D,E, F. . .

I have had the cutest vintage alphabet cards and they have sat in their box for 4 years. I have been perplexed with what to do with them. . .Easy!! Get some string, some clothes pins and VOILA! Can't wait to put it up in the kids playroom! I have to hurry before H gets too big for alphabets!
Cute huh! I found this idea from etsy! www.etsy.com is a fantastic web site! Check it out!

A moment

I don't know why, but I cried when I saw this short movie. Life is so beautiful. Especially the moments. The moments that are often forgotten and the moments that are huge! One day, and we never know when, we will leave this glorious world! Seize the Day. Carpe Diem.
We simply don’t know what will become of us 10 minutes from now, much less tomorrow, or next year. Do what you can today to insure that you’re there — fully and in totality — for each and every instance of your life’s passing moments.

FormWell Blog

Check out our new blog www.formwell.blogspot.com

We are the best Personal Training Studio in the Greater Atlanta Area!

Why Exercise Won't Make you Thin

This article written in Time magazine should have read "Why Exercise Alone Won't Make You Thin".

I was a dancer in my past who danced 8-10 hours a day and ate very little. Some pretzels, a slurpy, a cup of Joe, some popcorn, and rice and veggies. I stayed very thin. Too thin.

Triathlon entered my life and I was again exercising 8 hours a day. Teaching 3 step classes, running 4-8 miles, biking 20-70 miles and swimming 3-4 days a weeks for at least an hour. This coupled with my weight training I was a work out fiend. . .I gained 15 lbs. Now some of that was needed because as a ballerina I was too thin but some of it was because after an 8 mile run I ate a bagel with cream cheese. After my long bike I felt like I could surely eat more because I had worked so hard.

Fast forward to when my son was born. Although I tried, my son wouldn't sit in the gym for longer that 30 minutes. So, I had to train harder and more efficiently. Seriously hard 30 minute workouts 5 days a week was what I did and really almost no cardio at all! Drum roll. . . I lost 12 lbs and got really cut and had about 9% bodyfat!! I also ate really clean. Egg omlette for breakfast, lean protein and apples for lunch and snack, and a Big Ass Salad for dinner with chicken or salmon.

What did I learn?
Cardio doesn't make most people lean. Most professional athletes weigh their food, and basically starve themselves to stay in weight. They don't rely on their workout to keep them lean. That said, muscle won't get tone without being stressed. So:

To get toned muscles you have to work your muscles!! Weight training, lifting heavy objects, short bursts of high intensity work.

A serious commitment to eating all natural, organic, grass-fed, meats and fresh, organic, seasonal produce will make you healthy.

An active healthy lifestyle will make you happy. Get outside. Walk in the sun! Play!!

Pink Peonies

Over and over I say. . .my favorite flowers ever!!!!!! Pink peonies!

Last weekend

So, We were in Yorktown,NY last week. Visiting my Monster -in-law. NO pics yet. My BFF has the camera. But suffice it so say it was scary. She is a pack rat and a horrible housekeeper. I spent 3 hours cleaning the front door windows. A roll of paper towels and a 1/2 a bottle of windex. Ugh. Never smoke! It clogs up your windows. The windows looked like a cigarette. Ugh.
Anyway, I took the kiddies to NYC for a day and that was a blast! I never loved my house more than when I got back. So, pics of my house.

Ballerina Love

Ballerina days

So, my little one is in her first Ballet recital this Saturday!! The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. JOY! JOY! She was bawling this past Tuesday when she did her rehearsals. I had to bring her on the stage and up ran the director and I thought "OH NO! I am in trouble." But, she just was worried about Hana. Hana had some sort of eye allergy reaction to the makeup too. So, we are going to go to buy Almay tomorrow. Her very own!

Magnolias!!! They are all over in the south and yet every year when they bloom, I just have to stop and pick them and bring them home. My kiddies and I looked like crazy people the other day when after a quick trip to the pediatrician we could be found practicall climbing the trees grabbing branches and plucking off the enormous blooms. The kids were in awe! They are as big as our heads!! They don't last long in a vase but they are so pretty in the mean time! Wishing for a magnolia in my yard one day!

Twitter!

I can't believe I just joined twitter. I have been good about not getting stuck up in My Space and Facebook since I seem to have addictive tendencies. But now I caved. I will give it a month and if I am there more than here I will quit.
Wish me luck!

Cool!
Motherhood is the best. . .especially in the summer. Can't wait to have my little ones home with me.
We have a new puppy!!!!! His name is Comet and he is a ball of fur and energy. He even nipped H yesterday and it scared me cause it was on her cheek. He didn't mean it but he just had a bath and was running around like crazy! He was so excited because we had just come back for a hike and he was soooo dirty. You would have hought he would be tired but noooooo. . .
anyway little H keepipng up with her big brother on the hike slid down some slippery rocks into the creek and got her dress all wet. She was fine! :) What fun it is to follow a big brother around!
We have had fun watching R's baseball games and H will have her first ballet recital in May! She got her costume and is in heaven! Tinkerbell!
The first grade play is this week too! and, I signed up both kids for swim team this year!

Catching up!!

Oh!! So much has happened since I last blogged. My little lover son had a horrible incident happen. He came home from school 2 weeks ago and was complaining of a horroble stomach ache and began throwing up over and over. He was throwing up from 4:30 pm til 10:30 pm and I finally got so worried that I called our pediatrician and told her what was up. She told me that since he was at this point only throwing up a lime green colored substance, we should go to the hospital to get fluids put back in him. So, R and I drove to the hospital at 11pm. As anyone knows the emergency room is a long and exhausting event. We had a bag poised in case he threw up and we both curled up together and waited. . .finally at about 12:30 or 1am (who knows at this point) they escorted us to a room. The nurse who put an IV in R didn't use gloves (ahhh!), the IV machine kept sending off a siren that said that there was a air bubble in the line ( ahhhhh!), and if we could at all sleep we were disturbed by either the siren of the machine or my poor boy withering in pain. Finally at about 4:30am when he finally finished his IV, the doctor came in and said, "He will be getting better now." NO! He wasn't. The doctor left the room and in about 10 minutes R was again in so much pain "A 20 on a scale of 1-10." I went out the the hall and tracked down the doctor and told him that R wasn't better! So, he order an X-Ray and 2 MRI's. He told me that he was doing this on the off chance R may have appendicitis, although he thinks it is only a gas bubble.
Bless little R's heart, he was so brave. He was so serious, so tired and so sick. At 5:30am I finally got ahold of my husband who was asleep with H at home. He came to the hospital and just about that time the doctor came in to tell us that he has called a general surgeon and R will have surgery that afternoon because he has appendicitis.
Long story short. . .they gave R morphine, he passed out, and he went in for an operation at 2pm.
It is the most aweful experience I have ever been through watching my perfect little boy being hauled off to a room where doctors will open him up. Rami and I felt completely helpless and scared. Thank God for our faith. We prayed and prayed that God will hold him in His hands during this operation.
R's doctor was fantastic and came into the room and told us that his appendix was very infected and ready to burst. She said it was very big and inflamed.
R was wheeled back to his room and looked so groogy and sad. But he was back with us and we felt so much better. The next 3 days I stayed with him 24/7. Never left his side. I was his nurse, his mommy, his buddy( we played games, cards, and got our giggles back).
God is so amazing how He times everything. He gave R a few days to recover at home with no school for 4 days. R was feeling so much better and looking like his old self by Friday so we sent him to school so he could celebrate Easter(Easter parade, bunny cake). I need to note that h's class mom's sent us dinners for the entire week so I could concentrate on R and getting him well! What a treat!
Then Saturday we left to go to the beach for 7 days. He was instructed to not play hard for 10 days after the surgery so since we got to the beach on day 7 R had to practice patience. It wasn't so hard because it was chilly for the first 3 days we were there! God has such an amazing way!
On day 10 it was sunny, beautiful and we had a great time recovering. All of us!!
We got back yesterday safe and sound. And this morning the Easter bunny visited us!!!!
Happy Easter! The Lord is Risen!! Glory, glory Halleluliah!!!
p.s. I have lost my camera and can't post any pictures yet! :(

Our Life on a Wall

There is just something about having kids. It brings so much fun and color and imagination into my life. This is our bullitin board that is in the kitchen and it is overrun with all the art work, calendars of kid activities, and pictures. I love it and I am almost melencoly thinking of life when they head off to school. H goes to kindergarden in 2011. R is a brilliant student these days and is loving reading and math. These are the days. . .

Obama and Yoga
Regardless of what politics you may practice, today is a day of change and renewal. Millions watched as Barack Obama was sworn into office. Obama promises change and specializes in getting people involved at the grassroots level. Before he began his presidential campaign, he was asked why he wanted to become president. Obama answered that he wanted to be of service.
This Saturday, yogis will also serve by offering free yoga in honor of Yoga Day USA. In the spirit of karma yoga, teachers throughout the country will offer free or discounted classes and workshops to help build community, change lives, and aid local nonprofits through yoga. Sponsored by Yoga Alliance, the events are held in yoga studios and parks, at beaches, and in private homes.
This week, get inspired with a Seane Corn video interview
